From The Judgment the Nations
when we look at your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
But you are mindful of us human beings,
and you do care for us mortals.
We lift up our eyes to the hills
from where our help comes.
Our help comes from you, O God,
who made Heaven and Earth;
to celebrate our pilgrimage in the company of you,
our travel companion and helper,
and to pledge afresh our commitment to you,
our guide, our wisdom, and our vision.
As we commence the next stage of our pilgrimage on Earth,
as we endeavor to be your faithful coworkers,
and as we seek to give witness in words and in deeds to
your love, justice, and power,
inspire us and enliven us, O God,
with the Spirit of Jesus our Lord
who taught us by his example:
“No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
O God, the Spirit,
and make us whole
those of us called to serve you and people.
