PRAYER: A Prayer Of Confession For Lent (2), by James S. Lowry

confession James S. Lowry

From Prayers for the Lord’s Day: Hope for the Exiles

Lord God, forgive us.
Unlike the psalmist,
when we walk through the shadow of death,
we sometimes fear evil.
Unlike Paul,
we are not always sure that nothing can separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Unlike John of Patmos,
in the midst of injustice
we do not always see a new Heaven and a new Earth.
Forgive again, we pray,
our feeble use of the faith you give,
and restore to us the hope of trust
and the trust of hope.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.
